Jing Capucao, Ph.D.

Carmelinda (Jing) Capucao has enjoyed multiple lifetimes as a chemist, starting as a chemistry instructor as a fresh graduate in the Philippines. She earned her masters and doctoral degrees in synthetic organic chemistry from Florida State University and worked as an environmental analyst for the State of Florida, performing analysis of pesticides and mercury in soil and water samples. Over the past 20+ years, she transformed into a pharmaceutical stabilitarian through the various roles and responsibilities she held at Merck, J&J and GSK. From 1998-2012, Jing worked in R&D, manufacturing site and global stability groups at Merck, supporting small molecule pharmaceutical products, with a brief 2-year stint supporting vaccines. From 2012 to 2022, Jing supported the commercialization and life cycle stability requirements for OTC/self-care drug products at McNeil Consumer Healthcare, J&J Consumer Inc. She chaired the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) Stability Subcommittee from August 2016 to January 2021, spearheading multiple benchmarking activities amongst the member companies. She led the Global Self-Care Federation (GSCF) ICH Q1 Peer Support Group (shadow group) in May-September 2022 and was GSCF representative to the ICH Q1/Q5 Informal Working Group in August-September 2022. She is currently responsible for GSK Biopharm commercial stability programs from process qualification/validation onwards. Outside of work, Jing enjoys league ten-pin bowling and recreational ballroom dancing with her husband Joel, sharing poetry and songwriting with her daughter Joey, and relaxing with her French bulldog Jaba.
