Ilana Lemberger
Manager, Pharma, Thermo Fisher Scientific

I am a senior analytical scientist with strong production planning, leadership, and organizational skills. I hold a Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL. My 10+ years of experience include HPLC and GC method development and validation. In addition, I have extensive experience in business and management practices in several departments including: manufacturing, safety, quality, and marketing. My propensity for detail is exemplified through the usage of SOP, cGMP, and cGLP. However, my strong focus on efficacy never sacrifices safety.

I was employed as a chemical products chemist from 2007-2016 at Discovery Sciences, a division of W. R. Grace, until a recent global shutdown in July 2016. After one year in a prior role, I was promoted to manage the chemical products laboratory. It was in this capacity that I assumed the responsibility of GC quality control testing, producing chemical standards and reagents. I supervised and trained employees on laboratory procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations. In conjunction with these responsibilities, I developed and led safety meetings for various departments and for site safety committees.

My interest in the science field does not end at my workplace. I am very proud and enthusiastic about my involvement in my professional affiliations because I have the opportunity to share my interest with not only other professionals in my field but also with non-scientific audiences. As Director of the American Chemical Society-Chicago Section, I have access to endless opportunities for communicating science and for acquiring endless amounts of knowledge from experts worldwide.
