Principal Chemist, Pace Analytical Life Sciences


Dan Abate was born in Peru and moved to MN in 2001 to pursue his education in Chemistry.  He obtained his B.A. in Chemistry from Macalester College in 2005 and his Ph.D. in Chemical Biology from the University of Minnesota Chemistry department in 2012.  After teaching organic chemistry at Hamline University for a year, he joined the Horticultural Sciences department at the University of Minnesota as an Analytical Chemistry post-doc.  He joined the analytical chemistry industry in 2015 working for a leading nutraceutical firm and a contract research laboratory before joining Pace Life Sciences in February 2019 as a principal chemist.  His area of expertise is in the field of extractables and leachables of medical devices and pharmaceutical container closures, and their analysis by liquid and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.
