Christian Gaden
IT Manager, Program Management and Quality Assurance New England Biolabs

I have had a fondness for computers since I was a boy and I started debugging software as a hobby at the age of ten. I received my first programming job while in college. After college, I worked for a series of consulting companies over the course of a decade, developing over a dozen client-server and web-based solutions for my clients while at the same time learning about project management, the value of teamwork, and the critical importance of structured quality assurance. In 2006 I joined New England Biolabs as a programmer. My career has transformed several times over the past 18 years and I have had numerous titles. I am currently IT Manager, Program Management and Quality Assurance – splitting my time between managing multi-million-dollar globalization projects and overseeing NEB’s IT Quality Assurance team. During my tenure at NEB, I have been fortunate to build a small Quality Assurance team with my first team member joining in 2009. In the last 15 years, my team has adopted several tools for QA: everyone’s favorite Excel but also several automation tools including JMeter, HP QTP, and for the last two years Tricentis Tosca.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, working on projects for my house and my kit car, 3D printing, running Dungeons and Dragons games, and playing video games. I live in a suburb about 20 miles north of Boston.
